GE has announced that it will be launching a new consumer LED bulb that can last up to 17 years, for an extremely reasonable retail price of US$50.
These bulbs provide a 77% saving in energy cost compared to 40-watt incandescent light bulbs, the new light bulb is designed to last 25,000 hours – more than 25 times longer than an average regular bulb. This innovation is timely as governments around the world are gradually phasing out incandescent light bulbs.
