Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer, the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and the second leading cause of death among women. In Hong Kong, 1 in every 19 women has a chance to determine as breast cancer before the age of 75. The older you are, the more risks you are facing to develop the breast cancer. Early detection can make all the difference; ths it is vitally important for women to be aware and know how to check.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM), a worldwide annual campaign established in 1985 to increase public awareness and fundraise for research in its cause, treatment and prevent. After Evelyn Lauder and Susan G. Komen Foundation used pink ribbons as their symbol, it is now widely used to represent breast cancer awareness and pink is the chosen colour of BCAM.
Cancer Fund’s Pink Revolution is the largest breast cancer awareness and fundraising campaign in Hong Kong, every October since 2000. Its aim is to promote the importance of early detection, and raise funds for providing free services, like diagnoses and treatment as well as rehabilitation and recovery, to needed people. 
In support, mark your calendar for Dress Pink Day (23rd October), to show support for affected women by wearing the brightest and boldest pink items in your closet. Meanwhile, a donation is always welcomed. All donors who give HK $100 or more will receive a Pink Shopping bag and coupon offering discounts at lifestyle brands such as ECCO, Pure Yoga, etc.
Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation (HKBCF) is dedicated to eliminating the threat of breast cancer by education, support, research and advocacy. Not only financial support, but also free emotional and information support to patients in treatment. Support them by donation or attend the Pink Walk on October 18th, a flagship annual fundraising event for HKBCF lasting for 10 years. Busy? Go for the “Off Peak Pink Walk” – participants can walk whenever and wherever they like on any day in the month of October. Distance should be no less than 3.5 KM and donate minimum of HK$300.
Estee Lauder also unveiled its 2015 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign recently in honour of BCAM, with the theme, “Every Action Counts”. They will be offering free breast check-ups to their clients and staff, the breast cancer awareness “pink” truck will be travelling throughout Hong Kong offering advice and education materials.  The company has also donated HK$800,000 to HKBCF, and all sales of Estee Lauder Pink Products this month will go to HKBCF and The Estee Lauder HK Hereditary Breast Cancer Research. You can always directly donate to their Breast Cancer Research Foundation, a top-rated charity, to help research and awareness programs.

Ralph Lauren, this year, celebrating their 15th anniversary of its Pink Pony Campaign, supporting charities and communities through education, treatment and research. 25% of the sales from the collection, such as iconic Polo mesh, T-shirts, and bags, goes directly to the Breast Cancer Foundation. 
Pure Yoga cooperates with Pink Revolution during October to raise awareness of breast cancer. Payment of Yoga class and Cycle class on 17th of October will be entirely donated to the charity. Nood food will be also serving a fruity and cheeky “Pink Smoothie” only in this October, and every one purchased, they will donate HK $20 to local charities.
