Warriors of Qiugang
The untold story behind a polluted village in China’s industrial heartland

In China’s Anhui province lies the village of Qiugang, inhabiting 1,900 people and quickly being destroyed by pollution runoff from nearby factories. Three major enterprises have been damaging the air, water, wildlife and the health of people in the area, as there are little or no pollution controls on chemicals, pesticides and dyes.
Recently, a documentary was been created that unravels this untold disaster. The film focused on one of the village’s farmers, who has been rallying support to help save his village and many others in China by bringing awareness and hopefully justice on the environmental destruction that is being caused.
This 39-minute documentary, nominated for a 2011 Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject), is co-produced by filmmaker Ruby Yang, cinematographer Guan Xin, collaborator Thomas Lennon and Yale Environment 360.
