The HSBC Pok Oi Cycle for Millions, an annual cycling extravaganza, took place yesterday. A brand new route – the Stonecutters Bridge – was introduced for the charity ride this year. It was the first time that a cycling activity has taken place on this remarkable bridge.
Thousands of participants, including the event ambassadors Richie Jen and Kay Tse, had the chance to pedal on and admire the magnificence of the world's second longest cable-stayed bridge.
Proceeds from the event went to Pok Oi Hospital, a charity organisation that has grown with the Hong Kong community since 1919. It currently operates 73 service units spreading all over Hong Kong and the services benefit 500,000 people every year. Pok Oi provides quality and diversified services, including hospital, clinical centres for teaching & research in Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine mobile clinics, nursing home, care & attention homes, day care centres for the elderly, secondary and primary schools, kindergartens, family multiple intelligences centres, community cyber centre and hostel for single persons.
