The Asian Sustainability Rating is a benchmarking tool for rating the sustainability of companies that was launched in October 2009 and will initially cover the top 20 companies by market capitalization in 10 Asian markets which are Australia, China, HK, India, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.
 
There are 51 indicators that companies need to address through disclosure. The indicators fall into a number of sections which are: Governance, Codes and Policies-Corporate governance, risk management, anti-corruption, labour and human rights issues CSR Strategy and Communication-Stakeholder engagement programmes, use of internationally recognized reporting guidelines, CSR training and awareness Marketplace and Supply Chain-Supply chain standards, health and safety management Workplace and People-Diversity, health policies, training Environment-Environmental management systems, employee environmental initiatives, use of renewable energy Community and Development-Quantifiable impacts of philanthropic investment, evidence of long term strategies and targets for community investment.
