The Eiffel Tower might look drastically different than you’ve imagined it to be the next time you visit. Plans to place thousands of plant baskets onto the Eiffel Tower have been revealed. The 65 million Euro project to green the 1,063 ft. tower with no less than 600,000 plants will require strategically affixing planted hemp sacks filled with soil onto the infrastructure, as well as 12 tonnes of rubber tubing to irrigate the plants. The goal of the project is to show the reconciliation of nature and mankind by turning the architectural landmark into a 'green lung' to reduce carbon, and make it an ecotourism spot… though some residents are opposed to the funding required to implement the idea. Vive la tour Eiffel!
