A US$23 million Florida Everglades Resort is being developed for the Florida Everglades. The eco-resort will be situated on a 15-acre former citrus grove inside the 72,000 acre Seminole Reservation, adjacent to a 2,200 acre nature and wildlife park.
Scheduled to open in 2012, the resort will have 124 guest rooms and a number of full-service villas arranged in a village orientation. The project will be built to LEED standards and a number of certifications are being sought for, including Green Globe, EU Eco-Label and ISO 14001. Onsite restaurants will serve fresh, local menus and “educational menus” and the property will also include a wellness centre focused on natural health and fitness techniques.
Educational and recreational programs including sustainability and scenic tours, Native American cultural activities, wildlife viewing, survival training, biking and hiking will be available. EcoExperience Exploration Stations run by solar powered lighting and environmental technologies will be found throughout the property.
