Paper with a purpose
Adorable notebooks with altruistic intentions

Ecojot is a company based in Canada that produces cute, “eco savvy” paper products. Their notebooks and greeting cards are decorated with trendy designs and funky handpainted images. Also available are printed sheets of wrapping paper, sketchbooks, calendars and blank note cards. All the products are made with one 100% post-consumer recycled paper and vegetable based ink and glue. The paper is also acid and chlorine free, making them ideal for scrapbooks or journals that will last for years to come. Each notebook or sketchbook carries with it the promise of ‘buy one, we give one’: ie, a needy child is given a notebook or pencil for every notebook bought from the company. Proceeds from some notebooks also support the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), a global organization that carries out conservation research and education in more than 120 countries.
Linked to an information page on JGI’s website, the Ecojot products go beyond just being sustainably made and socially responsible, and takes it one step further into creating a small bit of awareness. The only downside that we can find is kind of an upside: the products are designed and made locally in Canada, which is an admirable choice… but unfortunately makes for serious travel miles, AKA carbon footprint, for those of us in Asia who would think of purchasing them. As well, Ecojot notebooks do carry a higher price point than ones you would find in your local stationary shop. The large ones come just under HKD $100.
Ecojot products are currently available at Page One stores in Hong Kong and Advantage Quest Publications in Singapore and Malaysia. Visit to learn more.
