Box Delivery Service Curates and Tests Eco Products

Who doesn’t want a curated selection of 5-7 full-size beauty, health, nutrition and household products delivered to their doorstep every month?! Not to mention a team of specialists, concerned individuals and focus groups scrupulously investigating the ethical and environmental credentials of each product to boot?
We do! And we think you might too. Introducing Naturally Better Box – the easy way for purposeful purchasing – perfect for Hong Kong’s hurried and convenience-crazed population.
“Our aim is to introduce you to the wonderful world of natural and cruelty-free products. We hope you discover a few products that bring a healthy change to your daily lives and leave you feeling happier about making a more positive impact on yourself and the environment,” says a Naturally Better Box representative.
And they don’t just talk the talk.
The Naturally Better Box team sources, and tests, products that have been recommended to them by nutritionists, doctors and leading health conscious individuals. They then vet each item via careful inspection of the production processes and supply chains, ensuring the quality, effectiveness, chemical content, testing procedures etc., of each individual item.
“We strongly believe in not only looking at the end product but also at the impact that it has environmentally and socially. Once we have been convinced to try a product, we not only test it on ourselves, our homes and our friends, but also on a focus group of conscious consumers,” the representative continues.
Each box also contains a letter explaining each product, why it was chosen, as well as its ethical and environmental credentials.
The Ecozine team turned the tables on these guys, and put the testers to the test! Before Christmas, we received a mystery box full of goodies, and guess what... we loved it! So much so that we invited Naturally Better Box to be part of the Zero Waste Weekend Festival (June 13-14) – the grand finale of Hong Kong’s first-ever Zero Waste Week, featuring entertaining activities, inspiring talks and an eco marketplace that’s a veritable who’s who of the green products available in our city.
For the record, here are the reviews of a few of the products tried by the Ecozine team:

Coal and Canary Soy Candle in Chunky Knit Sweater
Smells divine, like delicious baking but also clean and fresh. I love it. It claims notes of: pumpkin, cake, pecans and spice, but to me it just smells like a big jar of YUM. And they're made in small batches, hand poured and has a wood wick that crackles pleasantly while it burns.
Cocokind organic rosewater facial toner
This delightfully fresh and oh-so-sweet smelling toner feels lovely and smooth on the skin. It gives that purified, soft, post-wash feeling without any of the chemical aftertaste. Apply it with a cotton wool pad after washing your face in the evening and morning, when your pores are open and ready to receive the organic ingredients in this USDA-approved toner.
Fresh Paper by Fenugreen
This simple piece of paper keeps fruits and veggies fresh for 2-4 times longer, organically. It saves money by helping consumers, retailers and farmers reduce food waste, naturally. Infused with organic spices that are naturally antibacterial and antifungal, one Fresh Paper sheet is simply dropped into the fridge drawer, bags and cartons to keep fruits and vegetables fresh. These sheets are recyclable, biodegradable and compostable. Like a "dryer sheet for produce" – it works without having to be in direct contact with produce. Once in use, FreshPaper sheets last for about three weeks (or when its delicious maple scent starts to fade)!
Bee’s Wrap
This is the perfect alternative to plastic wrap for food storage, and an easy way to do something good for the environment. Bee's Wrap is made with organic cotton muslin, beeswax, jojoba oil, and tree resin. The antibacterial properties of the beeswax and jojoba oil help to keep food fresh and allow you to use the Bee's Wrap again and again. It is, however, not recommended for meat. Wash Bee's Wrap in COOL water with a mild dish soap, air dry, fold, and store in a drawer or in a basket on the counter.
You can start out by ordering just one trial box (HK$970), or buy a three-month pack (HK$930/month) a six-month pack (HK$900/month) or an annual pack (HK$880/month). There’s also an online shop where you can purchase the individual items.
