Well-known Hong Kong eco-lifestyle shop ECOLS has moved from its Gough Street location to The One in Tsim Sha Tsui. At its official opening, friends and fans were there to celebrate in style with the ECOLS team. Favorites that topped our list at the ECOLS store include recycled paper vases, tables made with recycled computer materials, and decorative bowls upcycled from vinyl records. These definitely add a unique and environmentally-conscious tone to the ordinary everyday office or home. Eco-friendly accessories favorites can be found at the new store, including recycled aluminum handbags from Escama Studio, candy wrapper bags from Ecoist and eco-rubber bracelets and necklaces from Batucada, as well as a variety of eco-conscious rings and earrings made with reclaimed gold, silver and bamboo. ECOLS has also partnered with a number of Hong Kong designers to support the local design scene, including local production. Some of the made-in-Hong-Kong innovations for sale include Handsome Bags Co., which makes bags from the old seats of taxis, and “Eggy candles”-candles made with used egg shells by a group of university design students. We’re chuffed to see ECOLS recognizing that locally made products are not only a source of design pride but a big plus for eco-conscious shoppers aware of our carbon footprints! If you haven’t already, check out the new ECOLS store next time you’re in TST.
