Getting that boost of vitamin C never hurts when you’re trying to keep yourself healthy and flu-free, and what better way than a tasty smoothie or juice made to order? With spacious seating areas and plenty of natural lighting and bright colours, I felt revitalized from the moment I walked into MIX. The friendly cartoon-like design of the menu echoes the welcoming, upbeat feel of the popular juice bar.

MIX is famously known for their smoothies, blended with low-fat yoghurt or sherbet that are available in three sizes – small, edium and large, or in MIX terminology, Wee, Wow, and Whoah! Smoothies and fresh juices can be ordered with additional “boosts” of vitamins and minerals, or shots of wheatgrass. MIX also offers a selection of wraps, salads, pastries and snacks to enjoy with your drink.

I tried the “Guava Slimmer” tropical smoothie, which is a blend of pink guava juice and mango. With only 200 calories and a burst of genuine tropical fruit flavour, this pink drink instantly reminded me of a bright summer day. My companion ordered the “Stress Buster” zen smoothie, which is a blend of strawberries, blueberries, and bananas with a vitality-immunity “boost”, which translates as a multivitamin and an Echinacea and vitamin C lended into the drink. The smoothie was berry-coloured and thick as a milkshake due to the bananas, and the flavour was not affected by the “boost”.

We shared the roasted vegetable with hummus sandwich, which is filled with eggplant, red peppers, and a combination of yellow and green zucchini. The sandwich could have used just a wee tad more hummus, but overall was not a bad choice, and vegetarians will appreciate this option stuffed with fresh, moist, grilled vegetables. MIX has nine locations in Hong Kong, including six in Central. All locations offer free wifi and internet terminals.
