World-Class Equestrian Experiences
At Nihiwatu’s Sandalwood Stables

If you are seeking the most ideal getaway, look no further than Nihiwatu.
Located 400 km from Bali, this luxury resort earned the No. 1 Hotel in the World as awarded by Travel and Leisure magazine. You read that right folks – it’s been rated the number one hotel on the planet. Located on Sumba Island in Eastern Indonesia, it doesn’t get more remote than this. What sets this resort apart from others is its special equestrian activities for those craving adventure to accompany the relaxation found practically anywhere on the island.

Carol Sharpe, a horse whisperer herself, manages Sandalwood Stables. It offers the most exquisite horse riding lessons and activities for all levels. If you’re unfamiliar with riding a horse, fear not as there is plenty of training to equip with the skills required to enjoy this activity safely. A couple minutes of preparation and practice will have you riding towards the sunset on those lovely Sumbanese stallions.

For a deeper connective experience with the inner self, guests can experience the Equine Inspired Alignment or Horse Whispering with Carol, who has over 30 years of experience with horses and 10 years of personal development mentoring. These private lessons will bring you closer to the horses and encourage a deep connection and understanding about them.

Don’t worry if you’ve lugged along the little ones. The Kids Pony Club caters towards children and will educate them on how horses are groomed, cleaned and fed. The program “Learning through fun” at The Kids Pony Club includes interactive games that will help familiarize children with equine communication and handling skills. Recommended for all ages!

Nihiwatu extends a starting rate of USD1,000 ++ per room per night until 31st March 2018, including full board accommodation, Wi-Fi internet, mini-bar, laundry, daily excursions and activities on land, non-motorized sea activities, scheduled group yoga & meditation classes at the Yoga Pavilion. Rates are based on a minimum 3-night stay in an entry-level villa during Shoulder season. Garuda Indonesia currently operates a daily flight from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport to Sumba Island (50 minutes).
