Not…Just Salad!

Salads and wraps in Central
Fast, healthy and made to measure

Created by dietician and chef Laurie Pensier, Just Salad first opened in New York City, and presently has two locations in Hong Kong: one amid the bustle of the escalator, and one in the always-busy Worldwide House on Des Voeux Road.
The vibrantly coloured orange and green storefront instantly drew us in. The idea is that custom made salads (from $52) and wraps (from $45) are made to serve, right in front of you, using fresh ingredients chopped and on display behind a plate of glass.
The portions were huge, and in our eyes worth it. There are over 70 different choices for greens/toppings, and 20+ choices of salad dressings.
After a fair bit of consideration (so many choices!), I opted for a mesclun salad mix topped with asparagus, avocado, grilled eggplant and artichoke hearts. The process of creating my salad was entertaining to watch; a hefty young gentleman used a two-handled chopper to mince the ingredients on a chopping board, and then tossed them togetherinto the bowl. The asparagus was crunchy, which complemented the soft avocado. Every ingredient was fresh and the eggplant and artichokes were nicely seasoned. To cap it off, the Smokey Poblano Ranch dressing was a great complement with its slightly spicy tones.
Other available toppings range widely, from a variety of chopped cheeses and meats, to wheatberries, olives, edamame, lentils and more. If you have enough decisions in your day already, try one of the chef-designed options, such as the Grilled Vegetable Salad/Wrap that comes with Portabello mushrooms, eggplant, tofu, carrots and chick peas.
For customers planning to have salads regularly, aand rpefer not to waste plastic by using a new disposable bowl for each salad purchase, Just Salad offers a $10 reusable “Just Salad Bowl”, which entitles you to two free toppings when you re-use it for your next visit.
