There are plenty of lists detailing the world’s most rich and famous, but what about those who are making a difference but aren’t among the world’s most wealthy? The Other Hundred is a project that aims to highlight these people, the vast majority of the world, whose lives deserve to be celebrated.
An initiative of the Global Institute for Tomorrow, there is now an open call for photo submissions. You can send a single photograph or a series of up to ten photographs, with a 50- to 250-word explanation describing the context. A world-renowned panel of judges has been put together to decide on the winning entries, which will be published in a hardcover photobook.
Judging takes place in April, so submissions must be received by 1 April 2013 to be eligible for consideration. All submissions are free of charge. Winning entrants will not only be published in The Other Hundred book, but will also receive a US$300 honorarium.
Proceeds from the publication of the photobook will be donated to organizations dedicated to addressing social issues and inequality across the globe.
There are so many people around the world that are making a huge impact and improving the lives of others, so what a great way to recognize them and the work they are doing.
