A serene resort in the midst of the Big Mango
Contact

Right on the banks of the Chao Praya River – the main artery running through the heart of Bangkok – lies the calm, quiet oasis of Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort.

The searing heat and bustling traffic of the Big Mango just melts away the minute you enter the serene, cool lobby – complete with water features, local art, and plush, cushioned seating.

The impeccably mannered (and clad) staff greet you with a welcoming smile, refreshing wet towel and deliciously moreish local coconut candy. They then lead you through the various wings of the U-shaped property, with all three sides flanking the inviting pool at the resort’s centre.

The indulgent beds, expansive balcony views of the city and the river, and sizeable bathtub are clear highlights of the Deluxe Premier River View room. Another considerate touch is the smartphone which can be found on the desk of each room, and is available to every Anantara guest, pre-loaded with internet connectivity, and the ability to make unlimited local and international (!) calls! This smartphone is yours to take out into the city, and proved a hugely helpful guide when navigating the myriad streets and activities Bangkok has to offer.

Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort is the perfect base form which to set out on your adventures in this lively city. The resort offers a regular and completely free boat shuttle service that takes you across the river to Saphan Thaksin, a major metro connection, or to Asiatique, one of the city’s many outdoor shopping meccas.

The breakfast buffet can be enjoyed at the resort’s riverside restaurant, and offers a range of delights including local fruits, fresh juices, yoghurts, confectionaries and Western and Asian delicacies. This compliments the wide variety of other food and beverage offerings here, including Japanese venue Banihana, Pacific Rim-themed Trader Vic’s, and Italian eatery Brio. Later this month the resort will even launch a hydroponic farm on the helipad of the main building, which will grows salads and vegetables to supply these restaurants - talk about local!

Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort is one of the brand’s many properties that have achieved the coveted Green Growth 2050 Certification Standard, which reviews stringent criteria across 37 categories including sustainable operations, management, design and construction, conservation of resources, reducing pollution, safeguarding biodiversity and social and community development.

One of the most apparent materialisations of this ethos is the first character to greet you in the lobby: a huge, golden elephant statue that was part of Anantara’s partnership with the world-famous Elephant Parade. This initiative saw a herd of over 50 1.5-metre elephants decorated and hand-painted by artists and celebrities descend upon the street of Bangkok. They were then auctioned off to fund the worthy cause of The Asian Elephant Foundation and The Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation.

Such are the resort's eco efforts that Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort was awarded the 10th Thailand Tourism Award this year by the Tourist Authority of Thailand - in recognition of the importance it places on conserving the environment, and pushing sustainability forward in the hospitality industry. It's focus on engaging the local community and preserving their cultural heritage was noted as a particularly strong factor contributing towards the award - one of the most coveted in Thailand.

Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort is an exceptional option for travellers that want a refreshing, quality base from which to explore this lively, cosmopolitan city - as well as those that value a harmonious balance between luxury and sustainability.
