Foxy Food Friday: getting juicy with Turmeric Jamu!

I recently returned from a month-long spiritual and educational trip to Bali, where my senses were nourished with delicious raw vibrational foods – really, I was literally vibrating with health because the food was so alive and so good! One of my favorite “tipples” was the amazing powerful and healing Turmeric Jamu Juice.
Jamu is used in Indonesian traditional medicine and is made from a number of healing herbs.  My dear friend and Raw Food Bali owner, Jon Dale tells me  “Jamu is an ancient art that embodies the awesome power of nature. Traditionally made by women, Jamus are healing concoctions comprised solely of natural ingredients and brewed with the immeasurable love of the nurturing mother. To re-introduce Jamus into the modern world is to remember where we came from and what truly allows us to thrive. Continuing traditions like these will be instrumental in recreating an environment that can support the optimal functioning of our planet and all its inhabitants”.
Kunyit Jumu, the turmeric juice variety, is particularly delicious and health-supportive. Turmeric has some amazing properties; I know my body loved it whilst I was only my 5-day raw food fast / feast. Turmeric is a fragrant yellow spice popular in Indian food, whose mega antioxidant and super anti-inflammatory properties benefit a wide-range of conditions, including Inflammatory Bowel Disease. It may also provide protection against colon cancer, boost brain function and it could even prevent Alzheimer’s!
So we hope we’ve convinced you to try this super healing and Graciously Green-approved Kunyit Jumu recip - just blend:
 - 5-7 inches turmeric peeled or ½ tablespoon of turmeric powder
 - Squeeze the juice of 2 lemons
 - 1 tablespoon of raw honey (or use ½ a tablespoon of xylitol for a low-GI version)
 - 1 large slice of fresh ginger
 - 2 teaspoon of miso, or tamari
 - Dash of pink Himalayan mineral salt (to taste)
 - Optional and gives a gorgeous flavor, add about 5 pieces of tamarind
 - 1 Cup of cold water
