World Environment Week, a series of events taking place from June 3rd to 8th, celebrates the UN’s World Environment Day and World Oceans Day (June 5th and 8th respectively). Moreover, it marks the start of team signups for the 13th annual Hong Kong Cleanup challenge, which will take place from September 21 to November 1, and celebrates the Hong Kong launch of Dopper, a Dutch award-winning reusable water bottle.

Over the years, the Hong Kong Cleanup has engaged over 100,000 volunteers in cleaning up over 350,000kg of trash. Its aim is to educate, empower and advocate about reducing waste, in support of a cleaner, healthier future for Hong Kong and the planet. For those interested in participating in the 2013 Hong Kong Cleanup challenge, register a team at: Hong Kong Cleanup.

Dopper is an initiative that promotes clean drinking water for everyone and the reduction of plastic waste. For this purpose, Dopper has developed the perfect reusable water bottle; sustainable, durable, beautifully designed, and easy to clean. What's more, 10% of all Dopper proceeds are donated to Simavi Charity for clean water and sanitation projects in Nepal. Get yours today at: Dopper Asia.

Last night, friends and supporters of the Hong Kong Cleanup and Ecozine.com gathered at Boujis Hong Kong, our night life partner, to celebrate the start of World Environment Week, hosted by Hong Kong Cleanup celebrity ambassadors Jocelyn and Anthony Sandstrom – and everyone had a blast! Guests mingled and partied the night away. The evening was filled with fun, friends, and gifts! Guests received Doppers courtesy of Dopper Asia, and the lucky draw was a hit.

World Environment Week also consists of a sold-out screening of Jeremy Irons’ “Trashed” on June 6th, as well as Ecozine LIVE! on June 8th – a high-profile symposium showcasing inspiring ideas from hand-picked local and international speakers and performers, including artist Simon Birch; singer Rosemary Vandenbroucke; executive director of Foodlink Foundation Robin Hwang; founder and owner of Dopper, Merijn Everaarts, and Paul Rose, Vice President of the Royal Geographic Society.

There are still a few tickets remaining for Ecozine LIVE, so hurry and grab them if you want to go! We’re even offering Ecozine readers a special 10% discount: simply enter “Ecozine” upon checkout!

Hope to see you there!
