Hong Kong Cleanup joins SCMP initiative

Hong Kong – a dynamic city with rich culture, heritage and traditions. What was once a small fishing village has now transformed into a dynamic financial hub and global city. This year, in celebration of their 110th anniversary, South China Morning Post is spearheading an initiative that aims to celebrate, promote awareness of, and take pride in what’s great about Hong Kong: creating a movement that is driven by the people of Hong Kong, with a focus on the great past, present, and future of the city.

Our friends at the Hong Kong Cleanup are proud to be supporting the Celebrating Hong Kong initiative, and we believe the work they do aligns beautifully with what Celebrating Hong Kong is all about: people taking a stand to show appreciation for our city. Sign-ups for the 2013 Hong Kong Cleanup season are in full swing, so make sure you head over to www.hkcleanup.org to sign up a team - and keep an eye out for the Celebrating Hong Kong logo on HK Cleanup materials this year!
There are a number of key events you should look out for as part of Celebrating Hong Kong:

July to December 2013: Redefining Hong Kong Speaker Series
A series of seminars and conferences have been organized, designed to engage constructive dialogue and analysis on how to reposition and redirect Hong Kong for future success. Throughout the series, there will be a deep look into Hong Kong’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and its role as a capital city of Asia.

December 2013: Spirit of Hong Kong Awards
An award that recognizes and celebrates Hong Kong’s unsung heroes: individuals and groups that enrich the spirit of Hong Kong through their selfless acts, their hard-working contributions to society and their heartwarming stories of achievement against the odds.

Q1 2014: Celebrating Hong Kong Charity Auction
The charity art auction is an opportunity for artists to express their love and admiration for our city, raising money for the most needy in Hong Kong. Sotheby’s will manage the auction of a unique collection of both premium and affordable art pieces that express a celebration of Hong Kong.
