Casual sports bar and restaurant in Kowloon’s Elements

Located on the ground floor of Civic Square at Elements shopping mall in Kowloon, Hong Kong, Grand Central has a laid-back atmosphere with comfy booth areas and bar tables downstairs and a stylish upstairs dining area with ample natural lighting complete with an outdoor patio.  This is a great place to go for a casual lunch, after work drinks, and especially during sporting events.  Part of the Eclipse Group, Grand Central prides itself on its wide selection of sustainable seafood items as well as vegetarian options, not to mention addictive desserts!  Since Executive Chef Keegan McLeod joined the team last year, Grand Central has expanded its menu options of hearty burgers, fries and delicious mac-and-cheese to an international menu that includes plenty of seafood options.  Having worked previously at Disney Cruises, Keegan’s dishes are inspired by cuisines from all around the world.
Grand Central has just started an appetizer buffet the day we visited.  We were glad to see that there were plenty of vegetarian choices, including fresh greens, pumpkin, grilled zucchini and peppers, and a lovely sustainable shrimp cocktail with a refreshing lemon and mango sauce.  With a full platter filled with sustainably sourced seafood, the GC Chilled Seafood Platter, HKD 588, is a must-have.  A paradise for seafood lovers!  The Atlantic shrimp were juicy and meaty, and the mussels blanched in Riesling were very flavourful.  We especially loved the freshness of the clams as well as the North American oysters.  Since we were in the middle of lobster season, it was the perfect time to have the steamed Boston half lobster.  Using Canadian Albacore tuna, the pepper-seared tuna sashimi was especially delicious when dipped into the sweet and sour vinaigrette that just made our appetite grow, wanting for more!  Of course, we saved room for the Legendary Hot Chocolate Lava Cake, HKD 79, that is crispy on the outside with a moist chocolate filling.  This was pure molten chocolate indulgence and perfect timing with the oven is most certainly needed for this famous dessert!
